My Transformation Story

How I Lost 40 Plus Pounds (My Story)

It all began with me wanting to make a decision to be healthy from the inside out. Often times we hear people say your health is your wealth and that statement is very true. What we put in our body on a daily basis can either make us or break us in terms of our Spiritual, mental, and physical activities.
In 2018/2019 I was in a quest on my spiritual journey seeking answers, reading, join a community seeking truth. As I was traveling this journey I met a lot of people along the way and I found some truth but that was not enough in my quest. I decided to be in a mode of fasting and prayers and desperately seeking for my life to get better since I was going through healing from some past traumatic experiences.
I felt like I hit rock bottom and was constantly weeping bitterly because of the hurt. People I have trusted blindly hate hurt me and it took me almost three years to heal. Nevertheless, I continue to see to get better. As I continue my spiritual journey things began to gradually change in my life and my taste for past habits changed without me really noticing them and some of the changes I made were based on personal convictions also.

Before we continue on the Health tips it’s important to know the difference between losing weight or losing body fat.
Note: Losing weight doesn’t have a focus on a continual lifestyle it only has a focus on losing weight in this moment as opposed to losing body fat which helps you to lose weight with a long-term perspective in keeping the weight off and maintaining your healthy habits to keep the weight off for life. After I realized I lose weight due to fasting (Dry and water fasting) I was able to maintain the weight loss by going on a Plant-based no oil diet. (Dr. McDougall diet) which is low-fat starch-based that is high in fiber and contains no cholesterol. this diet worked for me for several months with little or no exercise I was able to be skinny without gaining weight.

My skin got clearer, my hair grew, my nails got longer. I was also eliminating certain food from my diet also such as junk food, non-diary, process food, etc. However, when I am on my monthly cycle, I realize I was feeling fatigued and dizzy. So early January of this year of 2021 I began to implement meat again into my diet, but I only eat it when I crave but the majority of the time my diet is plant-based. I only eat meat and fish when I crave them, but I do not eat them every day.
In my many trials and research my goal wasn’t to be super skinny but to maintain a healthy weight by having a rich diet that will give me more nutrition naturally and with fewer calories.

Exercise or being active is important but it’s only like 10 percent of your weight loss goals the majority or other 90 percent is based on your diet.
Some of us live in the city while some of us have access to our own gardens or natural organic fruits and vegetables or grass feed meat because it’s a way of life where some of us are located. I would advise persons to read labels when going to the Supermarkets or their local grocery stores especially if they are suffering from a chronic health condition.

Some basic healthy habits are:
Learn to read labels
Detox
Fast (Intermittent, dry fast, or water fast) Someone I know shared their testimony on losing over 20 pounds just by doing a 7-day water fast.
Foods to avoid that is unhealthy and causes inflammation (Inflammation is your body natural response in trying to protect itself) are:
Sugars- which are the link to fatty liver diseases, insulin, resistance, weight gain, obesity, cancer, chronic kidney disease, heart disease, and many more. To void excess sugar, you will want to avoid candies, sodas, pastries, cakes, cookies, doughnuts, and breakfast cereals.
Trans Fats- are some of the unhealthiest foods you can eat. Natural fat comes from plants and food while trans-fat is artificially created and your body does not like it which causes heart disease, arthritis. Trans fat is used to all pastries and baked goods to stay on the shelves of your supermarket for longer periods of days, months, years and not expire.

Foods to avoid that is high in trans-fat are food such as French fries, Margarine, Pre-packaged pastries (cakes, cookies, muffins, and doughnuts), or anything that reads partially Hydrogenated oils.
Refined Carbs- It takes food and strips it of its nutrients and gives the part that is stripped to you for consumption eg. minerals, vitamins, fibers etc. Refined carbs are also going to cause your blood sugar levels to increase and increase inflammation. Foods to avoid are Bread, Pasta, Chips, Pizzas, Candy, Breakfast cereals, Cookies and Sodas. (Other foods that contain process flour and sugar)
Processed Meats- which is highly associated with obesity, diabetes, cancers in your stomach and in your colon. These food you should avoid are Bacon, Sausage, Smoked Meats, Deli Meats, Ham and Jerky.
MSG (Monosodium Glutamate)- is a food additive used to intensify the flavor. it can trigger two types of inflammation caused in your liver. Foods to avoid are Pre-packaged foods or soups, Store-bought dressings, Fast food, and Deli meats.
Gluten- it’s difficult for people who suffer from joint pain. It can damage the small intestine and cause a lot of joint pain. There are gluten-free products in the markets but make sure they don’t contain wheat, barley, or Rye. (not because it says gluten-free on the labels doesn’t mean it would cause inflammation.
Aspartame- is added sweeteners that contains no nutritional value which is used in sugar-free foods and many people body reacts badly to it. Food that contains Aspartame are diet coke, sugar-free candies. To avoid its consumption look for food that has no added sweeteners or artificial sugars.
Casein- which is prevalent in milk and dairy products can cause an inflammatory response and Gastrointestinal issues in a lot of people such as bloating and stomach discomfort. Look for food that contains no casein and is non-dairy or plant-based options.
Vegetable oils and Seed oils- Even-though our body needs Omega oil having too much of it can cause an inflammatory response. Food that causes this inflammation is Vegetable oils, Mayonnaise, Store-Bought Salads. A better option is avocado oil, olive oil, or coconut oil.
Alcohol- Men who have 2 drinks a day or women who have more than one drink per day. The problem with alcohol is that it causes your liver to have difficulty removing toxins from your body.
